First Post: Phoenix's New Album

Hello and welcome to my second ever attempt at a music site/blog! I've come a long way since the last one in terms of music and maturity... Case in point, I faintly recall naming it "Project Poo." Don't ask. I'm not quite sure what I was thinking either.

Anyway, without further ado, I present to you: Phoenix, a French four-piece alt-rock/indie act.

I'll be frank and admit that I've only known of this band for a little over 24 hours. The story goes like this: I was reading the latest Rolling Stone, the one with the pink bubbly near-naked Lady Gaga cover. Needless to say, if a cover like that doesn't create incentive to read the related article, I'm not sure what will.

There was an article on Phoenix's latest album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, sharing page space with the Lady Gaga one. It said that they're a French band who have apparently been around for quite a while. The French factor got me - four years of it in HS will do that to you - and a quick Google search for their myspace resulted in an aurgasm of upbeat, danceable, catchy tunes accentuated with bouncy guitar riffs and synths. To my surprise, everything was sung in English - but I'm not complaining, it's good!

Lisztomania

1901

I highly recommend the entire album; it's one of those that has great coherence if listened to from beginning to end. The two singles Lisztomania and 1901 are excellent representations of the album's sound (and both are great in their own right).
